Woody Wonders – Packaging for a Wooden Toy Line
I built the packaging system for a line of wooden educational games – from the first SKU to a growing product family – working directly with the toy's founder from dieline to print file.

The Brief
Not a Minimalist Box
The brand already had front-panel illustrations and a clear character style. What it needed was a proper packaging system built around them – a more editorial, file-card-style back panel with instructions, age range and contents, designed to hold up across a growing family of SKUs rather than a single box.

The Process
Dielines, Pantones, and a Lot of Back-and-Forth
Every box started as a dieline – basswood plywood pieces cut to exact dimensions for two board sizes, matched to Pantone references already in production. From there it was a close back-and-forth with the client: fitting the alphabet and numbers onto a single die-cut panel, deciding what stayed white space and what got illustrated, checking every revision against the real print specs before it went to the factory.
One of the early logic-matching concepts, worked out directly with the client before it became a physical dieline.

Character Illustration
A Cast of Characters, Front and Center
Every SKU carries its own set of illustrated characters – the parrot, the sheep, the little bug – hand-drawn and repeated across the packaging pattern so the box reads as playful from across a shelf, not just up close.
The Result
From One Box to a Product Family
What started as a single packaging request turned into an ongoing collaboration. The client came back for new SKUs as the line grew – from ROLL&MATCH to the Blue Tractor set – and I kept building the system out with them.
